Thanks everyone who showed interest in my Flip-Dot display exhibit (Flipster Clock) at 2016 NY Maker Faire!
I know I haven’t written anything about how I got these working yet. It was simply because I haven’t finalized the project, but I now release that it might be beneficial to share some preliminary information. So in the next couple of weeks I’ll do a write-up about these Flip-Dots, please stay tuned 🙂
I do plan to have couple of these for sale, once I finalize interface and driver scripts.

I totally loved this at Maker Faire! Well done! I immediately started searching for flip dot panels, and found they are way more expensive than I expected 🙁 so perhaps I cannot take this on yet, and will have to stick to my LEDs for now

Thank you!
Yeah they are definately not cheap even used… But imagine how much those bus signes cost new 20+ years back :). $10K? $15? I will probably never know. Only big transportation companies could afford these.
Alpha Zeta is only company still making new flip dot modules, and these cost over 600 EUR just for barebones 24×14 modules…
