PiBurn Featured in “Ben There Done That” Live Webcast: Which Rotary Should you get?
On February 4th, Ben Gonzalez, the Laser Guy, did a great webcast on his FB group, Ben there Done That. The group is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to grow their business and their brand, especially if you work with laser engravers. This cast was all about different rotaries and how to get the most out of them. If you engrave (or thinking about engraving) drinkware like tumblers, mugs, wine glasses or even bottles and bats, check out the whole webcast here. Ben covered three rotaries: The chuck rotary from Boss, the Boss MOD roller rotary, and finally […]
In the Lab: Laser Vacuum Table
For several months now I’ve been working on a new device: a Vacuum Table for Laser Cutters and Engravers. The main purpose of a vacuum table is to hold FLAT thin stock during engraving and cutting. It works well with things like cardstock, leather, thin plywood and acrylic. When laser cutting/engraving such objects, it has to stay still and it has to stay flat. To achieve this, various clamping methods are used, but they are usually very clunky and get in the way of the laser beam, limiting the work area of the material. A Vacuum table holds the object […]
New product: Lightburn 4K camera enclosure and mount!
Lightubrn has released a new 8 Megapixel 4K camera and we made an enclosure and mount for it. If you don’t know what Lightburn or their camera is for, you can read this earlier post. New camera module is bigger (90mm x 15m) so enclosure had to be redesigned. Good news is if you are upgrading from 5MP version, you can re-use same adhesive mount as these are identical. Available now in our online shop!
Enclosure for Lightburn camera (OV5648)
I’ve been using RDWorks to send jobs to my Laser machines for many years. Fortunately there’s a new game in town and it’s software called Lightburn. It’s not free, but it was created from scratch and incorporates many features that RDWorks was lacking as well as addressing many of it’s bugs and translation issues. One great feature it has is camera support. Why would you want a camera in your laser engraver other than remote monitoring? Well as it stands you can actually take a screenshot of what’s on your laser bed and align your cut lines or engravings perfectly. […]
Boss Laser Mirror Aliment Tool-set and BIG MOVE
Boss Laser Mirror Alignment Tools Last week we’ve launched new product in our store under slogan “No More Tape!”. It’s set of mirror alignment jigs similar to the one we’ve developed few years back for eBay 50W laser machine. This tool-set was custom designed for Boss Laser Generation V machines. It allows to align 1st and 2nd mirrors as well as CO2 tube. Concept is simple. Specially designed 3D printed brackets fit onto mirror holder. Brackets/jigs have slot where you insert disposable target indicator (a piece of cardstock with engraved/printed cross-hairs) and test fire laser to see where exactly it […]
New Product: Ramp Focal Gauge
Been working on this little tool for several weeks and finally it’s ready for the world! What is Ramp Focal Gauge? It’s a simple tool for finding out optimal focal distance from tip of your laser engraver to the material. It takes “ramp test” method to a new level. After you place it correct under your laser nozzle, and load template into machine’s memory, it will burn a clear markings on the replaceable temple that will show where your best focal distance is from the tip of the nozzle. No calipers, rulers or anything else required, just your eyes! Takes […]
PiBurn Kickstarter update
If you have been following this site or perhaps my Kickstarter campaign you probably heard about my PiBurn rotary attachment for laser engravers. I’ve been testing various glasses, and found big beer glass that was challenging to engrave as is. This prompted me to upgrade maximum height adjustment slightly. This now makes PiBurn more versatile. Please enjoy this video and reference to Dos Equis man 😉
My first Kickstarter project – PiBurn Rotary Attachment for lasers
I’m so excited to have my product on Kickstarter! Finally after almost a year in making and testing I decided to share it with the world. What’s PiBurn you might ask? Well it’s add-on device for Laser Engraver machines that allows to engrave various cylindrical objects. It’s powered by a motor and connected to laser machine’s controller. Controller tells it rotate slightly as laser beam passes over it burning image one line at a time. I really need your support to fulfill my funding goal and start making these devices! Please consider supporting me on Kickstarter and please do share […]
